Colorado Springs Amateur Hockey Association is dedicated to developing each and every child in our club to their individual potential through the best coaching, most advanced training methods and more ice time. CSAHA is an unique all encompassing program. Our club offers opportunities for all levels of players including our Jr.Tigers house leagues, Jr. Tigers travel program and our nationally recognized Tier 1 Pikes Peak Miners teams. With USA Hockey's National office located in Colorado Springs our Association is very fortunate to have many members of our National Staff as coaches in our program. Our staff has also been working with USA Hockey to develop an appropriate age specific training program that will benefit all of our players. Our Staff and I are dedicated to providing the best possible and most enjoyable hockey experience for all of our players and we appreciate you entrusting your child's hockey development to Colorado Springs Amateur Hockey Association.

Jim began his duties as Hockey Director for Colorado Springs Amateur Hockey Association in January, 2010. Since assuming these duties, Jim along with the members of our hockey staff worked hand in hand with USA Hockey to develop a cutting edge training program that maximizes the development for each and every player and provides them with the tools to reach their individual potential. Prior to coming to Colorado Springs Jim served as Hockey Director for 9 ½ years at the RDV Sportsplex in Orlando, FL. His responsibilities included running and administering all aspects of the hockey program including Learn to Skate and Learn to Play Hockey programs, youth and adult house leagues and designing and running hockey camps and various skills clinics. A Level 4 USA Hockey certified coach, Jim has experience at all levels from 8U to 18U. During his tenure in Orlando he founded the Orlando Stars (currently Jr. Knights) Travel program. From a modest beginning of 4 teams the organization grew to a high of 10 teams and had 3 teams represent the Southeastern District in the USA Hockey National tournament. Numerous players have moved on to AAA, Prep School, USHL and OHL teams as well as ACHA College club and NCAA Division 1 and 3 programs.
Jim is also very involved as a volunteer with USA Hockey on the Affiliate, District and National levels. He was on the board of the Florida Affiliate, SAHOF, and served as Vice President for 4 years. Jim has also coached at District camps and was the Southeastern District ACE Director from 2008 till his move to Colorado.
Jim and his wife Lillian, the ultimate hockey mom, live in Colorado Springs and have 3 hockey playing sons, Logan, Joshua and Kyle.

Coach Trombetta has been coaching hockey in the Colorado Springs since 1997 and with the Pikes Peak Miners AAA Hockey Club since 2004. Over the years, he has coached Pee-Wee AA, Bantam AA, 16U AA, 16U AAA, and 18U AAA. At every level and every age group, he has been successful at not only teaching the game of hockey, but also developing impeccable character in the young men who have played for him. In his tenure with the Pikes Peak Miners, coach Trombetta has helped numerous players make the jump to higher levels of hockey including the North American Hockey League, United States Hockey League, Western Hockey League, Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, British Columbia Hockey League, Alberta Junior Hockey League, United States U18 Select Team, and various NCAA Division 1 college hockey programs.
In addition to coaching the Miners 16UAAA team, coach Trombetta is the Program Director for the Pikes Peak Miners organization, and also serves as an Assistant Hockey Director for the Colorado Springs Amateur Hockey Association. As the Assistant Hockey Director for CSAHA, coach Trombetta bridges the gap between the Tier 1 Pikes Peak Miners and the CSAHA Tier 2 travel program. He takes a vested interest in all Jr. Tigers players with the intention to place as many CSAHA players as possible on the Miners AAA teams every season. Coach Trombetta works closely with the CSAHA board of directors and hockey director to help make sure elite player development is taking place throughout the CSAHA travel program.
Coach Trombetta graduated with honors from Northern Michigan University in 1997 with majors in both Psychology and Health Education. Prior to attending NMU, Coach Trombetta played his AAA Midget hockey for the Marquette Electricians and his Junior A Hockey for the Compuware Ambassadors and Michigan Nationals in the North American Hockey League.

Greg began his coaching career in 2000 with the Alliance Youth Hockey Association in Dallas, Texas. Greg was instrumental in helping build that program from three teams to nationally recognized contenders for National Championships at both the Tier II and Tier I levels. Greg spent seven years with the Alliance Organization. He coached at every level and from 2004-2007 coached at the Tier I Bantam and Midget level.
Recognized as being a top player development coach and instructor at the Tier I level, Greg was selected by USA Hockey and Texas Amateur Hockey Association to take the reigns of Team Southwest for high school hockey’s prestigious Chicago Showcase. Under his direction, Team Southwest moved up the ladder to reach play in the same divisions as Michigan, Minnesota and Massachusetts - a major accomplishment for Texas High School Hockey. He also led the Coppell Cowboys to the Rocky Mountain District High School Championship, another first for Texas High School Hockey.
From 2004 to present, Greg has been selected by USA Hockey to be a Coach/Evaluator at the Rocky Mountain District Player Development Camps. He has also been a Coach/Evaluator for the USA Hockey 14U and 15U National Select Festivals from 2008 to present.
In addition to his coaching accomplishments on the ice, Greg has a Masters of Education Degree in Exercise Physiology. With this, Greg has worked with the Dallas Stars Rookie Camp of the NHL where he helped Strength and Conditioning Coach JJ McQueen with the off ice program. Greg has his Masters Level 5 Certification and has also been a presenter for the USA Hockey Coaching Education Program where he presented Year Round Off Ice Conditioning for Hockey for Level 4 coaches.
In 2008 Greg moved to Colorado to coach the 18U AAA team for the Pikes Peak Miners Program. He led that team to a #12 National Ranking, Colorado State Championship and Rocky Mountain District Runners Up. Most importantly, Greg worked to move 9 of his players from that team into Junior programs. The 2010/2011 season will be Greg's 3rd at the helm of the 18U Miners. He is also the Player Development Director and is an Assistant Hockey Director to the Colorado Springs Amateur Hockey Association. In addition to these responsibilities, Greg is a Senior Consultant to the Tri City Storm of the USHL.
Greg is passionate about player development, character and accountability both on and off the ice. He works diligently with junior programs and colleges on his players behalf and continues his role as coach and mentor far beyond the season for their continued success and benefit.
Greg and his wife, Allison, live in Monument, Colorado with their 2 beloved Australian Shepherds, Gunnison and Zoe.

Freddie Beaubien
Goaltending Director

Freddie was drafted in the first round of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in 1992, and in the 5th round of the NHL draft in 1993 by the Los Angeles Kings. In 2006 Freddie finished an 11 year professional hockey career during which he played for teams throughout North America and Europe. Since 2006, Coach Beaubien has been working as a coach with the Colorado Rampage AAA organization in addition to being a goaltending instructor for the Colorado Hockey Club.
Freddie has been employed with several goalie camps over the past decade. He has worked closely with Francois Allaire (Patrick Roy’s goalie coach in Montreal) and Vadislav Tretiak (Hall of Famer Goaltender). He also played with or against and trained with several highly known goaltenders including: Patrick Roy, Jose Theodore, Jocelyn Thibeault (goaltender consultant for the Colorado Avalanche), Patrick Lalime, Jean-Sebastien Guiguere, Roberto Luongo, Martin Brodeur, Felix Potvin, Jamie Storr, Jean-Claude Bergeron and many more. Freddie is now the goaltender director for CSAHA and Pikes Peak Miners program.

Ken Martel

With 20 years of experience in player development and a long history as a coach and administrator with USA Hockey, Ken Martel was named the director of USA Hockey’s American Development Model in May 2009. He is charged with helping provide a blueprint for associations nationwide to follow for optimal athlete development.
Martel has spent the last three years (2006-09) at USA Hockey’s national office in Colorado Springs, Colo., working on coaching education and player development projects in the organization’s youth hockey department. Among his accomplishments, he led the organization’s efforts in the development of the highly successful USA Hockey Skills and Drills for the Complete Player and Coach DVD.
Prior to arriving in Colorado Springs, Martel was a part of USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program staff as an assistant coach for eight years (1998-2006), including a dual role with responsibilities for player personnel his final five seasons.
Martel has made appearances behind the bench of nine U.S. teams that have competed in International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships, including four times with the U.S. National Under-18 Team (2000-04), four times with the U.S. National Junior Team (2004, 2006, 2008-09) and once with the U.S. Women’s National Team (2007). He has been an assistant coach on two gold medal-winning teams, including the first-ever U.S. gold medals in the IIHF Men’s World Under-18 Championship (2002) and the IIHF World Junior Championship (2004).
Among his additional coaching stops, Martel served one season (1997-98) as a an assistant coach for the men’s ice hockey program at the U.S. Air Force Academy and seven seasons (1990-97) as an assistant men’s ice hockey coach at Michigan Tech University. He also spent one year (1990-91) as a graduate assistant for the men’s ice hockey program at St. Cloud State University.
A four-year (1985-89) letter-winner as a defenseman at Lake Superior State University, Martel helped the Lakers to the school’s first-ever NCAA national title in 1988.
Martel and his wife, Dawn, reside in Colorado Springs, Colo., and are the parents of children Colin and Cailey.

Graduated from Boston University in 1995. Played four years of Varsity Ice Hockey. Team advanced to Frozen Four in 1993, 1994, 1995. Won National Championship in 1995. Won Hockey East Regular Season and Tournament Titles in 1994, 1995. Won the Beanpot Tournament in 1992 and 1995. Was named MVP of the last Beanpot Played in the Hallowed Boston Garden in 1995. Was a four year member of the Hockey East All Academic Team, which earned him a Hockey East Distinguished Scholar award in 1995 (first Terrier to do so and only of three in BU history). Won the BU Friends of Hockey/Albert Sidd Unsung Hero Award in 1995. Also played one season of Baseball at BU. Highlights of career include scoring at the old Boston Garden and getting a hit at Fenway Park.
Played parts of one season of pro hockey with the Atlanta Knights (IHL) and the Nashville Knights (ECHL).
Began coaching career at Boston University in 1996-1997 at Boston University. Team won the Beanpot, Hockey East, and lost in National Championship Game to North Dakota.
Moved on to Colby College for one season, then to Niagara University (CHA) for three seasons. While at Niagara, recruited a Hobey Baker Finalist, two conference players of the year, and five all conference players. Team reached the NCAA quarterfinals in 1999 and finished 8th in the national rankings.
Was the top assistant and recruiting coordinator at UMass Lowell (Hockey East) for seven seasons. While at Lowell recruited a Hobey Baker Finalist, an All American, three All Rookie Team Members, a Hockey East Rookie of the Year, a Best Defensive Defenseman, a Best Defensive Forward, a Goaltending Champion, and seven Hockey East All Stars. Also recruited four Hockey East Academic All Stars and three of his teams featured the most members on Hockey East’s All Academic Teams (a record 19 in 2006). Three times at Lowell the men’s Hockey Team won the Griffin Cup given to the men’s team with the highest GPA on campus.
Coached at Babson College, for the Mass Satellite Program and was the color analyst for the Worcester Sharks of the American Hockey League. Did freelance work for Hockey Skills Acceleration which helps local Boston youth organizations with skill development implementation.
In addition to coaching college hockey, was heavily involved with USA Hockey for 14 years as a coach for the National Player Development Camps and as a speaker at USA Hockey Coaching Symposiums. Served as an Assistant Coach for the USA Hockey Under 18 Select Team that competes in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament (previously known as the Junior World Cup) in 2004 and 2005 in Slovakia and Czech Republic.
Currently the Manager of Youth Hockey for USA Hockey in Colorado Springs.
